Akyarlar

Aspat (precipitate)

The bay after Bagla. The mythological name of Aspat, which is also mentioned in the Bodrum Türkü called Çöchertme, is Aspardos.

It is thought that this word, meaning unproductive, was given as a name to this city during the Carian period because the region was unsuitable for agriculture.

In Aspat, which Evliya Celebi mentioned in his Travelogue, there is a castle ruin built on high rocks.

Bodrum

Golturkbuku

There are two beautiful bays in the north of the Bodrum peninsula. Turkbuku and Golkoy coves. Gölköy, whose mythological name is Karianda, was a famous region where the people of Kayra made a living from winemaking and viticulture. Gölköy, named after a lake surrounded by palm trees, is one of the most beautiful places on the peninsula. The area is under protection. Efforts are being made to make it a national park.

Türkbükü, which was called Madnasa in ancient times, was the region where the Greeks lived before the Turks and was called Rumbükü. After it was captured by the Turks, its name was changed to Türkbükü. The region, which is intertwined with each other, is a town municipality called Göltürkbükü today.

You will encounter many ruins on the hills of Türkbükü village. You can see the rock tombs opened in rooms, the cisterns used to pass the dry periods, the baptismal building and the 500-year-old wine pier in the region.

The town, which has two magnificent bays on the Bodrum peninsula, is home to Turkey's most famous faces throughout the year. How to go?

45 km from Bodrum airport, 19 km from Bodrum. In order to reach the town, which is in the distance, you need to arrive at the Torba junction from Bodrum. At this intersection, you will turn left and enter the first settlement after Torba. This is Gölköy, and the next settlement is Türkbükü. You can also reach the region via Yalikavak.

Gumbet

3 km from Bodrum. away from Gumbet is a recreation and entertainment center. Gumbet is a holiday region in itself, with many hotels, bars, restaurants, discos and shopping areas.

Gumbet, where you can try all kinds of water sports, offers you everything you can seek with its sea and sun. At night, the insatiable Bodrum entertainment spills onto the streets. In the entertainments that overflow from the bars to the streets, the drink flows like water. Worth seeing in animations.

Gumusluk

It is a peaceful town famous for its fish restaurants, 24 km from Bodrum. You can walk to the small island right next to it on the sea.

Gundogan

This quiet town, 5 minutes away from Yalikavak, has a peaceful and authentic structure and very nice facilities.

Although it is claimed that there is an ancient city of Karyanda on the island of Salih, the remains to prove the old settlement are almost non-existent. The people of Karyanda left the island and settled around Türkbükü Gölköy and established New Karyanda.

Kadikalesi

It is an area with modern accommodation facilities 4 km north of Turgutreis. It has a sandy and clear sea. The region, 23 km from Bodrum, got its name from the ruins of a castle from the Hellenistic period.

Karaincir

24 km from Bodrum. In the distance, this bay, which is between two hills, does not receive any wind. 500 mt. covered with fine sand. It has a long beach.

Mumcular

One of the oldest residential areas of Bodrum. In addition to products such as honey, tobacco and olives, it is the most important carpet production center of the region. Carpets produced on hand looms are sold all over the country. Carpet making, which gained importance with the development of tourism, has become the most important source of income for the town. Daily tours are organized from Bodrum for tourists who want to see carpet production.

Ortakent / Yahşi

13 km from Bodrum. It is in the distance. It has a very long beach. The sea begins to deepen just after the shore. Apart from many hotels, bars and restaurants, there is also a nice camping area. You can find all kinds of materials for water sports and this is an ideal sea for sports.

Ortakent, like Bitez, is inland from the beach. This is one of the oldest settlements of the peninsula. It is a large tangerine production area. Bodrum's water is supplied from here. It is located in the west of Bodrum, on the main road. The surrounding thirteen original tower houses are also located here. On the roof of Kuleli Mustafa Pasha Mansion, built in 1601, and perhaps for defense purposes, the 60 cm. thick walls, there are gaps opened by artillery fire.

Yahşi, reached by going forward from Ortakent, offers stunning views towards Bodrum. From here, a road leads to the wide sandy beach with small hotels and restaurants and a few small piers.

Turgutreis

18 km from Bodrum. Then you arrive at Turgutreis. Named after Admiral Turgutreis, one of the important captains of the Ottoman period, who won many wars, there are many accommodation facilities, restaurants and bars in the town. It has strong winds, so it has a sea preferred by professional surfers.

Turgutreis has a regular construction. A market is held once a week and tours are organized to this market from Bodrum and its surroundings.

Torba

Torba, 5 km from Bodrum, is home to quality touristic facilities as well as restaurants with delicious food. There are also ferry services to Didim from here.

Yaliciftlik

Yaliciftlik, which is 20 minutes away from Bodrum by minibus, can be reached by passing in front of the gümbets on the winding road among the pine forests. In the first bay after the end of Karaada and on this pebbly beach, which marks the entrance to the Gulf of Gökova, there are several restaurants scattered around. The eastern side of the coast is sandy. It is possible to swim and sunbathe alone among the deserted rocks a little further on.

After four kilometers from Yaliciftlik, you arrive at Çiftlikköy engaged in agriculture. Stone-built farmhouses are spread out on the slopes of the hill. Its main products are pine honey collected from beehives in the forest and figs grown in the surrounding gardens.

This village, untouched by tourism, reveals the views of the farm life on the Bodrum Peninsula.

Yalikavak

There are many touristic facilities and restaurants in Yalikavak, which you can reach with a journey of 18 km. It is famous for its fish restaurants. The most important feature of the region is the windmills.

This region with strong winds has a beautiful beach and sea. You will find the appearance of a modern town and village intertwined.
