APA is a deposit to be paid in advance of the charter when you charter a luxury yacht that is booked under MYBA (Mediterranean Yacht Broker Association) terms.
This deposit is called APA- Advance Provisioning Allowance-. The APA amount (ranges from 25% to 30%, and in some instances can be higher) is used to cover the expenses incurred during the charter period. This amount is separate from the actual charter price.
This includes services and items such as food, beverages, fuel, mooring fees, private marina fees, visa fees if applicable, harbour fees and other expenses not included in the charter rate.
The yacht captain is responsible for keeping track of these expenses during the trip. At the end of the charter, the Captain provides a breakdown of the spending during the voyage. If the costs, incurred during the time of the charter, are less than the paid APA amount, then the difference would be refunded to you. If the costs exceed the paid APA amount, then the exceeded amount must be paid by the charterer before disembarkation. Fuel costs might vary per country, as well as the yacht consumption according to yachts.
